Out of all the projectlife365 photos for this week, this one stands by itself! This is Sprague Lake, frozen over, at sunset. Sprague Lake is within my top five locations for sunsets! I actually took 120 pictures this trip and will be posting them in a landscape gallery after I get them sorted. Stay tuned for them!
I drove up Bear Lake Road around 15:00 because I wanted to see what the lighting was like. My intent for the entire trip was to head back down to Sprague Lake and watch the sunset, and my hunch paid off! Bear Lake was fairly busy with tourists and other photographers awaiting the same light I was… Luckily, Sprague Lake was empty! A few couples wandered by as I stood, sat, or laid on the ice and snapped pictures to my hearts delight! I wonder how the photographers at Bear Lake did?
This was literally a split second of time to get this picture. I was able to snap two pictures while the sun popped out between the clouds and the mountains as it set at 16:16:29! #projectlife365, #outside
Photo info – taken on the Canon 5D III set to ISO400, 1/400th exposure time, f/11 aperture, manual exposure setting with 0 ev compensation value. Used the 16-35mm ultra-wide angle lens set at 16mm focal length. I was laying on my back on the ice about 15 feet from the edge of the south side of the lake [the farthest side from the parking lot].
