One of the pleasures I find with photography is observing the world. There is a certain sense of freedom to explore.
What in the world must Adam have felt like when he opened his eyes upon the creation? The sky above and the land stretched out before him full of plants and animals. Then God asks him to name every creature! It was all good, and God was pleased. It still is good.
There is a mentality today that says not to believe this story. Maybe work will fill the time: a better job, a retirement plan, a nice house to live in, dedication to school and learning. Find the answers in a book, or search online. The TV may provide the latest weather update, because the blinds are shut and I cannot decide whether I should head out for a hike or not. I am poking some sarcasm into this!
Photography allows me to feel as though I am Adam. I can witness the light shining into the darkness, the land separated from water, and all of the plants and animals filling the earth. I can call the hummingbird a hummingbird – man given the responsibility to name the creatures and also tend to the land and animals.
There is no perfect way to capture the scene! There is a vastness that is beyond my comprehension, even the camera cannot see. I find pleasure in knowing that God spent his time creating such a place! My name is Justin, but I feel more like I am Adam – the first man created.
