Being that today is the last day of 2012, it is fitting to reflect on some of the highlights from the year. I came up with the theme of renewals and I would say I stuck to that pretty well!
Looking back, I notice a trend of pet sitting. Almost every month has “check on pets” written somewhere.
The theme of renewals really started with the house, as I was able to work on some maintenance projects that came up in January and February. Later in the year, I helped move furniture so that my mom could paint the rooms with a new color.
One of the main renewals that occurred in March was renewing my Certified Flight Instructor certificate.
I was also able to get out and hike quite a bit. However, it was slightly more difficult because of road construction in the park. This meant going to a few new locations.
In June, I was able to help with the church Vacation Bible School, which was a new experience.
August had the big event in that I gained a new brother-in-law. This involved a trip to Arizona with stops at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, and Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park along the way. I was able to see Third Day perform at Rockies Faith Day. I also started working for my church as the webpage manager/technical guru.
I was able to accomplish one of my goals in aviation in September when I was invited to take a ride in a church member’s airplane. He flew over my hometown, which fulfilled that goal. It was also really neat because the aspen were changing color and I had never seen that from the air before. I also went on some colorful fall hikes to see the aspens changing.
November was a fun month in that I began renewing a goal to start a small business. My first attempt at being a small business owner/operator is with photography. I’m guessing that is somewhat apparent if you are reading the blog! It is amazing how one thing leads to another. When I took the job as the church webpage manager, I did not really think I would be making the jump to starting a photography business. Somehow, working on church projects motivated me to dive off into the deep end!
The first part of December involved taking a couple of small business workshops and research and development for what is now my photography business. Although the process is still ongoing. I am still the webpage manager/technical guru for the church and I still have pet sitting written on the calendar. For Christmas, I was able to catch up with my best friend and his wife. They are expecting their first little one in June 2013!
It has been fun starting the photography business because I have a database of digital photos starting in 2008 that I have been sorting through. I am getting inspiration and a renewed sense of what has been going on in my life!
Now I am looking ahead to 2013!
